Nipmuc Regional High School Ski Club 2023-2024
Policies and Guidelines
In addition to the following policies and guidelines, please also review the Anti Hazing Law:antihazinglaw.pdf
1.We run a six (6) week session starting on January 3rd.
a. The bus leaves school promptly by 2:10 p.m.
b. The bus returns at approximately 9:00 p.m. Parents must be on time for pickup. We will not be responsible for your child if you are not here.
2. This year, if we end up with more students than can fit on 1 bus, but not enough to fill a 2nd bus, we use the order in which students completed their registration paperwork on this website as a way to determine who will get a seat on the bus.
3. If Ski Club is cancelled due to weather, the week will be added to the end of the six weeks. Make up sessions may not include lessons. If school is cancelled, ski club is definitely cancelled. It is very rare that we would cancel ski club when school is in session but this has happened in the past. If this is the case, we will email our participant contact list to inform everyone of the cancellation.
4. If you miss a ski week, you need to see your coordinator on the bus you are assigned for a coupon for a $20 absentee credit. Please make sure to ask for it the first week you get back! The credit is transferrable and it can be used towards the purchase of a lift ticket only. The coupon is good through the end of 2024 only.
5. If you are not feeling well during the day, do not go to Ski Club! If you are absent from school, you are not permitted to attend Ski Club on the day you are absent.
6. All students participating in Ski Club must ride the bus to and from the mountain. The only exception to this is in urgent situations and the student's parent is the one providing them with alternative transportation. The student's parent must give prior written/signed notice for this request, and the parent and student must both personally meet with the Nipmuc Ski Club coordinator to check in upon arrival (whether arriving on time with the club or if having to arrive late) and/or check out upon departure (whether departing at the same time as the bus or if having to leave early). We must receive a written note for each session this might become necessary for! Students are not permitted to drive their cars.
7. All equipment must be brought to school and stored in the loading dock area. Do not bring equipment on the bus! Students should bring a separate bag from their school bag for their ski clothing. Their school bags will be left on the bus unless a parent is picking them up from the mountain.
8. Please make sure that your child dresses according to the weather. Please label all clothing. Valuables should be left at home.
• Wear clothes that will keep you warm and dry. Learn to layer your clothing. • Use a good insulated glove or mitten, warm socks, a hat or helmet, goggles on snowy days, clear goggles at night, and suntan lotion and sunglasses on sunny days.
9. Terrain Park Pass (upgrade option): Students can purchase a Terrain Park Pass through the student program. Terrain Park Pass (one time $5.00 fee) requires a signed release form (must be 18 or older or signed by a parent/guardian). The student is responsible for going to the customer service desk to hand in their signed release form and obtain the park pass. They can do this on their own when we get to the mountain for our first session.
10. We will pass out students’ weekly badges on the way to the mountain and we will collect them when loading the bus on the way home. Season pass holders must make sure they have their passes every week. If a student loses their pass or forgets their pass, it will cost $15.00 to replace. Students cannot request their own replacement badges/passes, or temporary lift tickets from Wachusett. The school coordinator must make this transaction with Wachusett Group Sales. Students cannot use other students’ or siblings’ badges. If caught, they will be dismissed from the program.
11.We encourage all students to use the free Ski Watch service at the mountain. Equipment does get stolen and this is one way of making sure yours doesn’t!
12. If you are taking ski lessons, they start at 5:00 pm., behind the rental building. If you are a beginner, you must take lessons.
13. Please encourage your child to wear a helmet.
14. All Nipmuc High School rules apply. We have the right to dismiss students without a refund for behavior problems. Any student found drinking, stealing, in the possession of a controlled substance, using vulgarities, skiing or boarding recklessly, or anything else that, in the Wachusett Mtn management or chaperones' opinion, is considered disruptive, dangerous or illegal, will be dismissed from the program without a refund.
a. Please note: Proper behavior in the base lodge includes: No skis or snowboards in the building; picking up after yourself; removing trash from tables and returning cafeteria trays; keeping stairs, doorways and aisles clear at all times.
b. A parent will be called to pick up his/her child if any of the above is not followed.
15.There will be no hanging around the lodge. You are there to ski. Wachusett states: “We respectfully ask that you do not bring non-skiing/snowboarding students.” Loitering will not be allowed!
a.If this type of behavior occurs, parents will be notified.
b. If it happens a second time, the student will be withdrawn from Ski Club without a refund.
16. We will have a central area with a chaperone table set up in the back of the lodge. Look for the red bags.
17. If you are renting equipment, you must bring it back to the rental area at the end of the night.
18. No cash refunds unless you purchase the pass/badge insurance plan. • The insurance plan Provides Student Badge/Season Pass Replacement at a pro-rated refund if unable to use services due to unforeseen circumstances. Please Note: Must be purchased when badge/pass is ordered
19. Injuries: Please let a chaperone know if you have injured yourself. We need to fill out a form and report any injuries to the school.
20. The bus leaves the mountain at 8:00 pm sharp. Participants need to be off the mountain by 7:30 pm at the latest and at the bus, ready to board at 7:45pm. The busses will not leave unless everyone is present and accounted for.
21. Insurance Reimbursement – Many families receive a reimbursement from their Health Insurance for their child being a part of the student program. To receive a copy of your child's order, just email [email protected].
